David was born in Wuhan, China, and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. He attended school at Columbia University and studied Economics.

David serves on the Board of Trustees of Global China Connection, a leading student-run non-profit organization, and is a member of the Board of Governors for Heart2Heart Canadian Youth Society, a student-run charity organization based out of Vancouver, Canada. David has gained work experiences at Bain & Co. and Goldman Sachs.
